Lorenzo M. Tañada

He was:
- regarded as the “Grand Old Man of Philippine Politics”
- a staunch Nationalist who fought for Philippine Sovereignty and led the effort to end American military presence in the Philippines which dated back to 1898
- a leader of the “Parliament of the Streets” which toppled the Marcos dictatorship
- the longest serving Senator, 4 terms, 24 years
- the Solicitor General and Chief of the Office of Special Prosecutors during the post-Japanese Occupation
